FOLK & DEVOTIONAL ART

Saraswati

A minimal, iconographic depiction of a goddess expressive kohl-lined eyes and a bindi standing in for the full face, a marigold and a betel leaf flanking either side, and a body suggested entirely through interlocking triangular linework rather than drawn form. Restrained color (just red, gold, green, maroon against white) keeps the focus on symbol and pattern over realism, in the tradition of ritual diagrams and rangoli-style geometry.
